TWO DIFFERENT APPROACHES

ONE LIFE CHANGING PROGRAM

At River Valley Dance Academy, we take pride in how our students conduct themselves when they interact with their teammates and the world around them.

The Company

The Company is an auditioned group of advanced students studying ballet, pointe and modern dance. They see dance as an art, and look forward to creating new pieces as well as learning the classics. They work with dance professionals Kirsten & Hannah on developing their skills, as well as look forward to working with guest instructors on choreography and partnering. They enjoy participating in dance festivals, and using their art form to tell a story. Attention to technique to create strong Adagio and Allegro work is important to these students.  A future in dance is a consideration for this serious group of dedicated artists.

Former RVDA students have gone on to study with The Joffrey Ballet, Pacific Northwest, Ballet West, North Dakota Ballet, The Paul Taylor Company, Alvin Ailey, Marymount - Manhattan, University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point, The California Institute of the Arts, TU Dance and Minnesota Dance Theatre.

performance company

The Performance Company is the umbrella term used for our seven Performance Teams and The Company.

The Hip Hop Team (known as Renegades) encompasses dancers with previous hip hop experience, while The Force, The Fierce, Intensity, The Edge, Fame, and The Pulse, are the names given to our six Jazz/Lyrical teams. The teams perform quite a bit within the community, and have the option to travel out of state for trips, and participate in two dance competitions each year. These are auditioned groups. Dancers having reached level three and ages 9 or older may audition. The teams are divided based on age and experience. While the teams have the opportunity to compete, their main focus is developing progressive skills that will make them better dancers as they perform throughout the community and study with top choreographers and dancers from around the country. The participant is looking to further their opportunity to learn and perform.

Over the past 20 years the Performance Company’s have had the opportunity to perform aboard the Sovereign of the Seas Cruise Ship, at Orchestra Hall, Branson, Nashville, Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Resort, MN Vikings Football Games, Timberwolves Basketball Games, Centennial Lakes Amphitheater, The Mall of America, local Worship settings, Nursing Homes, Dance Team Exhibitions, and studio productions. They have taken class at Dance Conventions, and traveled to NY to take class at Broadway Dance Center, with performers from broadway shows, as well as participate in the Rockette Experience at Radio City Music Hall.
